সুক্রেশ্বর মন্দির, গুয়াহাটি  (পর্যটকদের আগ্রহের জন্য প্রায় অজানা জায়গা)

                                   সুক্রেশ্বর মন্দিরটি আসাম রাজ্যের গুয়াহাটিতে ইটাখুরি পাহাড়ের চূড়ায় অবস্থিত।  জনশ্রুতি আছে যে, ঋষি  সুক্রার এই পাহাড়ে তাঁর আবাস ছিল এবং তিনি এই মন্দিরে তাঁর শিবের উপাসনা করতেন। কালিকা পুরাণ অনুযায়ী , হস্তিগিরি পাহাড় হিসাবে টিলাটিকে একটি হাতির শুঁড়ের মতো আকৃতির জন্য বিখ্যাত বা  চিহ্নিত হয়ে থাকে । ১৭৪৪ খ্রিস্টাব্দে আহোম শাসক প্রমত্ত সিংহের দ্বারা নির্মিত, সুক্রেশ্বর মন্দিরটি শক্তিশালী ব্রহ্মপুত্রের দক্ষিণ তীরে অবস্থিত। মূলত আঠারো শতকের পুরানো এই মন্দিরে ভারতের বৃহত্তম শিব লিঙ্গাম বা ফালিক প্রতীক রয়েছে বলে মনে করা হয়।

                                       এটি বিশ্বাস করা হয় যে এখানে  মৃত্যুর পরবর্তী কালীন  অনুষ্ঠান করা হলে মৃতরা শান্তি লাভ করে। মন্দিরের কমপ্লেক্স থেকে নদীর ধারে যাত্রা শুরু হয় । সুকেশ্বর ঘাটের সিঁড়িতে বসে কেউ নদীর উপর সূর্য অস্ত যাওয়ার দৃশ্য উপভোগ করতে পারবেন, নৌকাগুলি নদীর ওপারে চলাচল করছে। হিন্দু কিংবদন্তি অনুসারে, কেউ যদি এই মন্দিরে স্বজনদের সম্মানে মৃত্যু অনুষ্ঠান ও আচার অনুষ্ঠান করে থাকেন তাহলে মৃত ব্যক্তি মোক্ষ বা পরিত্রাণ লাভ করে।

                                      সুকেশ্বর মন্দির প্রাঙ্গণে একটি বিষ্ণু মন্দির আছে এবং বিভিন্ন বিগ্রহের মন্দিরও  আছে ,পূজা পরিচালনার জন্য অনেকগুলি কমপ্লেক্স এবং হল রয়েছে। মন্দিরটিতে ভারতের অন্যতম বৃহত্তম শিবলিঙ্গ রয়েছে বলে স্থানীয় লোকেরা মনে করেন । ভক্তরা নিয়মিত মন্দিরে যান শিবলিঙ্গকে ভারতের ষষ্ঠ জ্যোতির্লিঙ্গ হিসাবে বিবেচনা করে প্রার্থনা করার জন্য। রাজা রাজেশ্বর সিংহ তাঁর সময়ে শিব ধর্মের প্রচার করেছিলেন এবং ১৭৫৯ সালে মন্দিরে আর্থিক সহায়তাও দিয়েছিলেন।

কলকাতা থেকে গৌহাটি আস্তে গেলে —

 ১)হাওড়া থেকে ৩ টা  ৫০মিনিটে (১২৩৪৫)আপ সরাইঘাট এক্সপ্রেস ছেড়ে পরেরদিন সকাল ৯ টা ৩৫ মিনিটে গৌহাটি পৌঁছায়।

২) বিকেল ৫ টা  ৩৫ মিনিটে ছাড়ে (১৫৯৫৯) কামরূপ এক্সপ্রেস

৩) শিয়ালদা স্টেশন থেকে সকাল  ৬টা  ৩৫ মিনিটে ছাড়ে (১৫৬৫৭) কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘা এক্সপ্রেস আর গৌহাটি পৌঁছায় ভোর ৪ টায় ।

৪) রাট ৯তা ৪০ মিনিটে ছাড়ে গরিব রথ (১২৫১৭) সপ্তাহে দু দিন ( বৃহস্পতিবার ও রবিবার )

৫) প্রতি বুধবার রাত ৯তা ৪০ মিনিটে ছাড়ে কলকাতা ডিব্রুগড় এক্সপ্রেস (১২৫২৫ )

Sukreswar Temple, Guwahati  (Almost Unknown Place for Tourist Interest )

Sukreswar Temple is located on top of the Itakhuri hills at Guwahati in the state of Assam.  Legend has it that, Sage Sukra had his hermitage on this hillock and he used to worship his Lord Shiva in this temple. The Kalika Purana identifies the hillock as Hastigiri hills due to its shape like the hump of an elephant. Constructed by the Ahom ruler Pramatta Singha in 1744 AD, the Sukreswar temple is located on the southern bank of the mighty Brahmaputra. Originally dating back to the 18th century, the temple is believed to have the largest Shiva lingam or phallic emblem in India.

 It is believed that the dead gain peace if the post – death rituals are performed here. A flight of steps lead down from the temple complex to the river. Sitting on the steps of Sukreswar ghat one can enjoy the scenery of sun setting on the river, boats moving across the river. According to the Hindu legends, if one performs death rituals and rites in honor of their relatives at this temple than the dead person would attain moksha or salvation.

The Sukreswar temple premises also have a Vishnu temple and many other complexes and halls for conducting rituals and pujas. The temple also has one of the largest Shiva Lingas in India. Devotees regularly visit the temple to offer prayers to the Shivalinga which is considered to be the sixth Jyotirlinga in India. King Rajeswar Singha during his time promoted the cause of the Siva cult and also prompted financial help to the temple in the year 1759.

1) By Saraighat Express (12345), arriving at Guwahati the in the  next morning at 9.35 am from Howrah.

2) Departure at 5.35 pm, Kamrup Express (15959)

3) Departure at 6.35 a.m., Kanchenjunga Express (15657) from Sealdah Station.

4) At night 9.40p.m leave Garib Rath (12517) two days a week (Thursday and Sunday).

5) Departure from Kolkata Dibrugarh Express (122027) every Wednesday night at 9.40p.m.
